spodfu49 15 Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 does or will emby support virtual tuners? an entire subset/frequency recorded and/or watched only using one tuner. while tuner 2 can be used to record and/or watch a different subset/frequency. i recorded 2 shows at once using emby on the same frequency/subset, but both tuners were used. 1
denz 501 Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 I hope it can be done as well I have tried mediaportal and it does exactly that hopefully emby can someday look at it.
ebr 16169 Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 Sounds like a feature that would need to be supported by both the hardware and the API to it. With MP is this using an HDHR tuner?
spodfu49 15 Posted June 30, 2016 Author Posted June 30, 2016 yes, with an hdhr using mediaportal or nextpvr a user can record and/or watch the entirety of different subsets/frequencies for each tuner.
spodfu49 15 Posted June 30, 2016 Author Posted June 30, 2016 (edited) the actual name of the feature is called multichannel decryption. their is a small amount of info on this page http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/4_HTPC/HTPC_Hardware/TV_Cards?highlight=multichannel it says mediaportal does not support the feature, but it appears the page has not been updated in a while. i have used mediaportal and it performs this feature. should i post a topic in the feature request forum for this feature? Not entirely correct, because Emby cannot decrypt/receive scrambled or copy protected channels. But multi-reception of free channels is in general already possible with a HDHomerun. I think every tv backend but WMC (not sure about this) can do this. Here's a good explanation about this topic https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Multirec
