How to move Emby Server to a New Machine and Keep File Structure

Recommended Posts

I'm going to move my Emby Server to a different machine because having it on the same machine and user as my WMC resides doesn't allow for going in remotely to start the server when there's issues with it loading.

How to move it to another machine (Same i5 Devil's Canyon but 16 Gb RAM instead of 8) or even just move it to the remote admin user login I have on the same machine because I cannot run access the WMC user remotely under the WMC user as that user doesn't have a password for easy entry without logging in and a password is required for remote admin.

TIA!

Thanks! I knew there was a way to do this! I probably have to dig up my Premiere Code in my emails someplace.

Good day,

I forgot to add, the plugin:

Server Configuration backup

Will be good idea to use as well.

Here I am FOUR MONTHS LATER and I'm just getting back to this. Been doing stuff to the house and setting up Vera / MiOS home automation as well as automated pool control. Not to mention various PC issues just pop up out of nowhere keeping me busy just keeping things going.

I have been using Server Backup for a while and even created a back up on Sunday but I could not find a way to restore that back up on a new machine as there's only a 'back up' button and not a 'restore' button.

Also, I use WMC on the same machine that I am removing Emby from and use ServerWMC for the LiveTV and RecordedTV functions of Emby. When I move Emby to the other PC, does ServerWMC stay on the WMC machine or does it go on the machine with the Emby Server running with a UNC path for the RecorededTV Folder on the network?

Click on one of your saved backups at the bottom of the backup config screen, then on the next page there will be a restore button.

You will need the server wmc plugin installed with Emby Server on the new machine. As far as the server wmc software goes, you probably want to create a topic in the live tv/server wmc section. I am not exactly sure of the answer. Thanks.
