I have some files with the following specs.

Video

CodecHEVC
ProfileMain 10

Resolution3840x1600
Aspect ratio2.40:1
AnamorphicNo
InterlacedNo
Framerate23.97602
Bitrate47030 kbps
Pixel formatyuv420p10le
Ref frames1

I am using Emby for WMC but when playing the video, I'd like to get the TV to pick up that it is a 4k file and switch to a 4K resolution instead it stays on 1080P.  Not sure if that makes sense or if it is at all possible.

This will be a function of the codecs you have installed and how they are configured and whether or not they can support 4K.

I believe LAV can do this but I have not tested it in conjunction with WMC (which was last updated by Microsoft when 1080 was the highest resolution available).

well looks like some videos will play however the one listed above, when i click play it goes to a black screen sitting there saying its playing but nothing happens.  I am only guessing its too high of a bit rate to play.

It would be nice for 4k files or files with resolutions higher that 1920x1080 to show a 4K logo instead of a 1080 logo

still having problems with said video.

Perhaps someone who has 4k videos working well with WMC can help out but realize that you are using a technology built long before such resolutions were available to the public.

My first guess for the ones that don't work would be the 10-bit color (profile: Main 10).
