grimmell 0 Posted June 19, 2016 Posted June 19, 2016 I've been banging my head against the wall for the past several hours trying to figure this one out. I recently installed Emby server on a Windows 10 PC and Emby can't find any of my networked media. The vast majority of my media is in a DNS-321 NAS. I've tried adding the folders as IP, network name (i.e. \\DLINK-15B212\Volume_1\Movies) and through a share drive and so far nothing works. When I type in the path in the library setup it sees all the subdirectories with the movies in them and I can access the files in file explorer no problem. I've tried running it as a service and using the tray icon and neither seems to have an effect. The server finds local recordings on the same machine no problem. I'd really like to use Emby, but this is pretty frustrating. I've googled every word combination I could think of and none of the answers seem to help. I understand it's usually a permissions issue, but mine appear to be fine, so I'm at a loss.

grimmell 0 Posted June 19, 2016 Author Posted June 19, 2016 (edited) When I type in the path in the library setup it sees all the subdirectories with the movies in them If this works, then why not just do this? Sorry if that was unclear. What I meant was the dialog shows all of the subdirectories and I don't get any errors when I submit, but regardless of which method I use to define them my libraries are still all empty. Edit: Also I don't know if this is another clue, but my NAS doesn't show up in Windows Explorer on its own. If I type in the IP or UNC it comes up fine and my mapped drive works well. I've been using Plex for a couple of years and Kodi for several months on this setup with no issues. Edited June 20, 2016 by grimmell
Abobader 3470 Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 Good day, Make sure that emby server account on that NAS have read/write permission, or at least the group it has in. My best
grimmell 0 Posted June 20, 2016 Author Posted June 20, 2016 Good day, Make sure that emby server account on that NAS have read/write permission, or at least the group it has in. My best Thanks for the idea. I verified that the only account on the NAS does have read/write. I even made an additional account just for this specifically and no dice.
AdrianW 1058 Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 Have you entered and saved your NAS username and password into Windows Credentials on the Win 10 machine? Looks something like this:
Luke 42085 Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 And in addition to that advice, if you still have an issue please provide the emby server log: http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/739-how-to-report-a-problem/ Thanks.
grimmell 0 Posted June 21, 2016 Author Posted June 21, 2016 Thanks for everyone's help. I can't say what did it, but when I came home from work today my libraries were all populated. I added the credentials per Adrian's suggestion this morning, but it didn't seem to make a difference initially. Regardless it works now so I'm happy. I appreciate everyone's inputs and quick responses.
