SalkinD 0 Posted June 19, 2016 Posted June 19, 2016 At least 80-90% of my videos do not work. As all playes I use (Dragon Player and VLC Media Player) have absolutely no problem with these, this seems to be an error. How do I configure this correctly? Codec: H264 - MPEG-4 AVC (part 10) (avc1) | Codec: MPEG AAC Audio (mp4a) | .mp4 Kubuntu 15.10 | 16gb RAM | Core i7
Luke 42077 Posted June 19, 2016 Posted June 19, 2016 Hi there, sorry to hear about this. The best thing to do is see how to report a media playback issue so that we can properly help you. Thanks!
SalkinD 0 Posted June 20, 2016 Author Posted June 20, 2016 (edited) EDIT: found errorEmby4Linux seems to run ffmpeg as some strange user, neither system user or group nor root. Therefore permission denied for ffmpeg. So here a "Feature Request": a readable error message not only "failed" Edited June 20, 2016 by SalkinD
Luke 42077 Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 I will test the file but please see post #2 as your issue is probably environment-specific. The video your testing is a plain mp4 so if we couldn't handle that then we'd obviously have a serious problem on our hands.
Luke 42077 Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 The Emby linux package creates a system user called Emby, so that's what that is. But normally it's not necessary to manually configure permission to execute ffmpeg.
