Home videos in a collection not showing as a single item

I'm trying to create collections for a few hundred home videos.  I've set the library type to home video, and when viewing the library, any items in a collection are displayed individually instead of just the collection.  If I set the library type to movie, the collections appear instead of the individual videos (as expected).  If I go to collections from the home screen (or from the menu) the collections and individual items appear properly.

 

I've double checked and the Settings -> Display Settings -> Group movies into collections is checked. (which makes sense, since movie collections display as a single item).

 

Server version: 3.0.5972.0

Right now that feature is only applied for movies, meaning videos that are inside a library of content type Movies.
