chef 3810 Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 Hello everyone, This is my first post here in the development CT. I hope I spell everything correctly here. I have been studiously reading and writing a very cool side kick to media browser three. I have been q huge fan if media browser for a very long time and I am extremely happy to be able to contribute what I can. My latest endevor has lead me into the world of speech recognition. Which is what I mean by "side kick" to media browse three. Not necessarily a plug in, but something guy will enhance mb3 by using voice control. My question about the API pertains to user profile switching, How should I go about programically switching profiles in mb3. It would be helpful to see and example. Maybe in cs. I would like to thank the devs hard work up until this point, and offer any services I can to help more the project forward Thanks Ben
Luke 42077 Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 The server is state less so there's no switching required. If you're referring to the logged in user in MBT, there will be API calls for that but they don't exist yet
Redshirt 1487 Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 Surprised no-ones said it yet. I think it's cool your tweaking your voice recognition package to work with MB3.
Xzener 729 Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 Chef, Sorry, I've been quiet. I will help test this weekend. Keep up the great work!
chef 3810 Posted March 22, 2013 Author Posted March 22, 2013 Redshirt, or Luke what is best to get information from the API? A http web request. Please could I have an example of how you guys are polling information. I would like to set up exceptions on my end, for things like: Having user accounts with media browser which do not have speech profile accounts in windows. Only id you guts could fund the time. No rush. Many thanks. Ben
Luke 42077 Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 Ben, Have you seen the swagger documentation page? You can access it from the system tray. It lets you try out api commands and allows you see what the responses look like. And yes, they're http requests.
chef 3810 Posted March 22, 2013 Author Posted March 22, 2013 Perfect, thanks! I am still a little green.
Luke 42077 Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 But for the umpteenth time , if you're making these http requests from c#, just use our api client and it will do all the work for you. There's several of us here who can help you get up and running with the nuget package, over a team viewer session.
chef 3810 Posted March 22, 2013 Author Posted March 22, 2013 Right, sorry Luke, I switched to visual basic because I could work faster with that language. Although similar in structure ( as you probably know) it was like reading French when you only speak English. I could understand what was happening, but it seemed upside-right to me. I'm trying to get it though. if there s time tomorrow, wecould team viewer the set up.
