FireTV App forgets about server ip address

Hi there,

did not find a topic which is describing my problem, so it seems I'm the only one having this?

The wiki says about the Fire TV App:
"Install the app using one of the above methods, the app will then automatically find your local Emby Server(s). If it cannot find your server or you are attempting to connect to a remote server, the app will present you with options to connect manually or use Emby Connect."

My server is local and of course in the same network (subnet). On every start of the app, the Emby client asks me for an connection. So I enter the local IP address and the client connects.

The connection stays until I exit the app. It does not matter how I exit: Clicking the Home Button (Remote), clicking the backwarts button until the app is closed, ...

After restarting I have to reenter the ip address all the time. This is quite fiddly with the FireTV Remote (no buttons). Is there a troubleshooting possibility?

Thanks a lot!

P.S.: The server does not run all the time, but always when I start the app.

Make sure that your firewall on the server is allowing UDP traffic through to the server application.

Make sure the Fire TV is on the latest version/fully updated.

Make sure the Emby App is fully updated.

If this is a Fire TV box and not a stick, try using ethernet vs wireless.

All three of these were causing me issues.

Thanks!

Thank you for your answers.

Unfurtunately this wasn't the solution for my problem.

Firewall has set 8096 and 8920 through UDP and TCP.

I think you might think it is a timeout situation. But on my Galaxy S7 (Android 6) there are no such problems with the app. Never saw the login screen there again (which is as expected).

All my versions (Emby Server, FireTV App, FireTV OS) are on the most recent version.

It's a box connected via wire (Fritz Box, LAN).

Still the problem occurs to me. For me it seems to be no connection issue (never had one with other streaming services), I think it's the app not remembering my inputs (in my particular case it's the IP address of the Emby server).

@MSattler: Were your encountering problems the same as mine?
