two wire 2 Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 I have two questions: 1. When viewing season episodes titles in MBT, is there a way to force the episode titles to appear in a vertical stack arrangement rather than the horizontal presentation that some of the seasoson show? 2. What do I have to do to get the internal player in MBT to play .vob files, or is it even possible? Thanks
bloodtaker 71 Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 im not sure on number 1 but number 2 i use the shark codecs for wmc and they seem to tie into mbt as i have no issues watching vob files inside it.

Thanks As far as i'm aware at the moment there are only horizontal scrolling MBT installs and only uses LAV filters. So you have all the codecs required to play most movies. You might need to go into the LAV filter settings in your start menu and check your settings. Any probs just shout
BATTLE DONKEY 98 Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 I didn't try it myself but I remember someone else asking the same question about .vob files. The answer given was to place it in a video_TS folder or something along those lines. The same folder u would get if ripping a DVD using win MP. Anyways, give it a shot and see if the server recognises the .vob file that way. Like I said didn't try it myself but that was the answer given, hope it works for u if not hopefully someone has a proper solution for u
Latchmor 584 Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Have a look here, http://mediabrowser.tv/community/index.php?/topic/3256-how-to-handle-vob-files/ Works for me with default install of MBT and LAV
two wire 2 Posted January 5, 2014 Author Posted January 5, 2014 Thanks, all, for taking the time to respond to these questions. In regards to question 2, the files are currently locateded in their individual Video_TS folders. If I back them out one level and change the extension to .mpeg, MBT will play it. If I leave the extension as .vob, then VLC will play the file. In either case, I must remove each file from its VIDEO_TS folder.About 10-12 years ago, when HHD space was at a premium, I deleted the .ifo and .bak in all of my old half-hour tv programs to conserve space. It will take a long tome to individualy change each file so it will play with MBT. Luke indicated the vob recognization issue could be resolved in a later release. I'm going to waitI do have an additional question, however. How do I remove a configuration I made for the VLC external player. I did not see a setting for this on the external player settings page. I tried several different things but I could not remove the settings I entered. Now VLC is launched when I select the play button.

Now VLC is launched when I select the play button., I seem to remember a comment about not being able to delete an external player once configured. In the meanwhile, though, have you tried just deselecting all formats in that configuration screen, including Bluray, DVD and 3D? I think that will put the internal player back in control.
Latchmor 584 Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Hi, I just tested a VIDEO_TS folder in MBT which played fine. I deleted the .IFO and .BUP files and tried again and MBT would not play so this is definitely your problem, which I think you knew anyway. However you can recreate .IFO & .BUP files with a program called IfoEdit. Again I just tested and it works. It took 7 mins to do this for a 5.7GB movie split into 6 VOBs so I guess it will be quicker for a half-hour episode. This would take a while if you have a large collection but it's an option. Cheers
two wire 2 Posted January 6, 2014 Author Posted January 6, 2014 Pagali, This is one of many things I tried with no luck.I also tried looking for some some type of configuration file to which I could maybe make some changes, but became frustrated with the Win 8 windows explorer and gave up. Latchmor, I have far too many individual files, each in their own folder to considerthis option. I have an ifo editor but I think if this does not get resolved I will just change the extension .mpeg Thanks
