Connections to external servers 173.230.139 and 66.171.248.178

Hi,

 

I noticed that Emby connects to two servers on startup, and when being used ( for example when the web interface is activated).

 

173.230.139.54
66.171.248.178

 

The first address seems directly related to Emby, the second one I cant find much about.

 

Although I understand there might be checks for updates, I cant find information about what those addresses are and what information is exchanged. (and , there is no need to check multiple times for updates I would guess....).

 

So I was wondering:

Is there some information about what is send or received to/from those servers?

What is the second address?

Can those connections be switched off ?

The first I believe is the for activation/verification of supporter key and the second is the "bot.whatismyipaddress.com" to get your external connection address.

Just wondering, certainly about that second one, but this seems to make sense :-)

The external IP address is used to make it easy to connect to your server from outside your network and to display it to you on the dashboard so that you can do it manually if you wish.
