Is it possible to run emby on WMC when not connected to the internet? I've recently moved and don't have internet yet. Anytime I click on the Emby icon in WMC, it gives the message about "can't connect, be sure it is running on the local network." Is there I way I can open emby in WMC when not connected to the internet?

That is telling you we cannot connect to your Emby Server, not the internet...

Bit of a Microsoft answer there ebr .... technically correct but of no real help :)

Well I think the error message is improved but I think Ebr's response is plenty help. You don't need to be connected to the internet but your Emby Server does need to be running.

Right - I think the OP made an assumption that his problem was the lack of an internet connection when really it appears his problem is the lack of a connection to his server.

More details about exactly what is happening and a log would clear it up though.

Emby for WMC is one of only 1 or 2 of the Emby clients that doesn't need an internet connection for playback to work.

The web client does not need an internet connection. android and ios do not either. roku does not. the windows RT tablet app does not. windows phone does not. emby for kodi does not. probably others too.

If I may chime in on behalf of my purple t-shirt tagged friend. The roku doesnt require an internet connection either.
