Doonga 17 Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 If I change the Save artwork and metadata into media folders setting from unchecked to checked, does the server move all the current metadata to the media folders? If so, does it clean up the "old" metadata files after it moves them?
ebr 16187 Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 No. It will only impact future operations. Imagine what kind of mess we could create if someone checked it, then un-checked it, then checked it...
Doonga 17 Posted June 2, 2016 Author Posted June 2, 2016 Ok, that's what I figured. Just wanted to confirm. Thanks!
Klassiq_1 0 Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 No. It will only impact future operations. Imagine what kind of mess we could create if someone checked it, then un-checked it, then checked it... On my original setup, I had all media/metadata/artwork saved to the media folder which was on a secondary drive. I recently had to reinstall Windows and Emby due to a primary drive failure, so I can truly appreciate the benefit of this feature. However, when I was reinstalling Emby and importing folders, I forgot to have this option checked, so it moved all of the artwork (customized posters included) from the secondary drive to the local User/AppData location. I understand how much of a mess it might become based your "check / un-check it" scenario, but is there a workaround based on my situation to move them back to their original location. Thanks.
ebr 16187 Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 Your original metadata should still be right where it was...
vfast 5 Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 I recently had need to reinstall my media server and thus emby. I previously had all pictures and nfo stored in my library (media folders). However after installing the latest version and even with the option checked it doesn't appear to be storing anything with my media. I am accessing the media via the UNC path \\server\video\movies. Anything I've missed?
