Hey!

Newbie here with some questions about metadata.

Im using Emby latest server on Win 10 and leting Emby fix all scraping of info.

Im using Emby Xml, since Nfo is a manual service ?

Is there any way for me to somehow edit a file on what Emby should scrap? For example i dont want Actor potraits, studio info, movie budget etc. Is there any template i can change and then "re-scrap"? or what is the yeasiest/best way? I dont want to do everything manually since ive got a pretty large library of media.

Then i want to change the pictures of a few movies. If i choose to use a picture for the cover that i made myself, do i have to "Lock object to prevent changes" in the Metadatahandler for it to not change when im updating the library?

Thanks!

Hi there, welcome. Actually nfo is our default now and recommended format. But xml is fine too.

There is currently no configuration related to individual fields, sorry. You would need to clear out the data using the editor and then lock the fields.

As for the cover photo question, no it shouldn't. I do my own covers as well and it never touches them.

Thanks for the replies! But sorry for the delay :P

So if i got this right, i can do like this:

1. Change everything to .nfo

2. Go to the editor and uncheck the options i dont want / Lock fields.

Should i then lock fields to prevent changes?

3. Manually empty the metadatafolder and re-scrape?.

What happends if i "lock to prevent change" and add media? Will it not add data to that, or is it just the options it prevents to change?

Can i do this on the top folder of the hierarky and it will apply to all?

Or will files/folders beneath override the options so i have to do this for every individually file?

Sorry if it all seems messy, english is not my native language :P

What would be the point of #3 once you have manually edited the metadata info for every item in your library?

Locking is done per item. You will actually want to use an external metadata tool to create this. One where you can control what is pulled in like Ember or Media Center Master. Just tell them to save the data in the Kodi / XBMC format.
