All/Random/Shuffle Play?

I don't think there is right now, but I wonder if it would be possible to implement random play in MBT, as is currently with MBC with certain themes. Currently I am having to use MBC to play TV shows in random order, but am hopeful it would come to MBT at some point. 

 

So far I am really liking MBT, very functional, responsive and definitely will make an excellent stand-alone player in time.

I'd really find a feature like this useful for playing music videos, since when we have friends over I'd love to show off a music video playlist, as opposed to an audio one like "everyone" has. It kind of ruins the mood when you have to go back to the menu and search for a new song after the previous one ends though  . Being able to just pick a song (video) and hit "shuffle" would be great for entertaining.

Im just thinking I would  like this available in the app on my phone as well like my  iphone/android whatever, why limit it to just mbt. Using xbmc i often dont have the tv on but play music and launch it right from my phone in the app and then you could also select shuffle. Also the browser client could also take advantage of this. 

Thats one concern i have  with requests and implementing things at different levels based on mb3 structure with so many different clients, the more we can implement at the server level, then other things can take advantage of it not just a specific client. 

 

But i agree about adding shuffle.

I've had very similar thoughts about the lack of consistency between the various MB3 clients. I'm all for individual creativity, but it seems to me that the goal of every client developer should be to offer all the basic functionality available through the server, and on all other clients. THEN get creative with look and feel. I'm constantly going back and forth between clients, thinking 'Oh yeah that's right! This one doesn't do that!'

This is one of those must haves for me.

 

Play All should be setup I reckon with function to highlight folder and press play on your remote and would play everything under the folder (including sub folders were present). Perhaps another button or a long press on play to bring up sub menu to shuffle or random or play unwatched. Even that could work from main EHS category list which would make choosing what to watch super easy 

 

Also this functionality would make my collection of a few thousand music video clips viable to add to MB.

Same here, the only reason i'm still using WMC is because of the music playback.

If Emby would suit better, i could disregard WMC.

 

Especially needed, since win10 won't be offering MC anymore.

I would love to have random movies play 24/7 (or smart playlists), I just like having random movies play because it'll get me to watch them again or find interest in something in my library I've never seen and never really bothered to look at. Right now I use Kodi for PseudoTV only but I would much prefer to use Emby Theater indefinitely.

I just want to bump that topic.

 

I'm trying to move away from Windows 7/WMC and use  ET, but that missing shuffle feature doesn't let me.

 

In the music section, there is the "instant play" feature, which seems to do exactly that (but could be easier to find, I would like to have it on the top selection, right unter genres, albums and artists).

 

But I have a big number of music videos and no way to (shuffle) play them all.

 

In Emby for WMC I press the play button on the music videos library and get a popup menu with the options "play all" and "play random" (at least in nearly every theme I tried).

This should also be available in ET, by button press or with buttons at the top line (besides the config button).
