billy24752 0 Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 Hi, I have had major issues in enabling Emby server to work. the server is set so that it loads up automatically when my PC starts, it does this in that in the bottom right toolbar I can see the Emby icon (running windows 10) however when I then try loading Emby media player it reacts as though the server is not running at all. I am having the same issue when I try running the Emby app of my phone. I can not access the Emby dashboard either as when I right click on the Emby icon in the bottom right comer where I get the options to either browse library or configure Emby I get an error message (Make sure you’ve got the right web address: http://localhost:8096) any help will be greatly appreciated, I am not that great with computers so apologises if this makes no sense.
ebr 16184 Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 Sounds like you need to configure your Firewall to allow it to communicate. Please see: Connectivity
Luke 42078 Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 Hi, this could also be some kind of startup problem. Do you mind grabbing the server log and posting it here for us? You can find it under c:\users\{yourwindowsuser}\appdata\roaming\Emby-Server\logs
dsc1000 0 Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 I am having the same problem. I am attaching the logs. server-63599676316.txt server-63599676831.txt server-63599679267.txt unhandled_0a1be0b1-1a9b-425c-800d-c4d92e7a9c83.txt
dsc1000 0 Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 (edited) I just installed Emby on a windows 7 Pro. I tried Chrome, IE, and Firefox with same results. Disabled firewall and turned off Plex. I tried uninstalling and re-installing. I always get: This site can’t be reached localhost refused to connect. Luke 42078 Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 Hi, can you please do a test and run this installer and see if it helps? https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145 Thanks.
dsc1000 0 Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 (edited) Unfortunately, not. I tried a re-boot as well. server-63599688024.txt server-63599692429.txt server-63599692871.txt unhandled_78fed5aa-8cb3-46d0-a1f7-6503bfb8aae5.txt Edited May 24, 2016 by dsc1000
themohom 0 Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 Hi there guys! Also having the same problem here. I followed the link Luke for the C++ visual, I went to install but it said it was already installed (with date of febuary). I also did a repair of my Net 4.6 as I thought it may have been that (from looking at the email). I've attached the last log files for you to peruse, first one before I did anything and the second after checking C++ visual and .NET framework and performing a system restart. server-63599710734.txt server-63599709962.txt
Luke 42078 Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 can you try the beta server from the website? thanks.

dsc1000 0 Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 (edited) I just checked the beta version and the stable version and they are the same. They are both 14.0.23107.0 Edited May 24, 2016 by dsc1000
Luke 42078 Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 I've published another new beta with additional startup logging to help trace the issue. please install that then provide the log. thanks.
billy24752 0 Posted May 24, 2016 Author Posted May 24, 2016 thanks for the reply, i am havin problems accsing the log. hav followed the path but nothing.
dsc1000 0 Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 Billy. You will need to change settings so you can view hidden files and folders.
Luke 42078 Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 Thank you. I've found the issue. Please download the beta installer from the website and let me know if that resolves it. Thanks. 1
Luke 42078 Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 For those wondering, it was related to having quotes in your installation path (possibly other characters too might cause it). It was a silly mistake that slipped through both the dev and beta audiences. Thank you for helping chase it down. I will update the stable channel with the fix.
billy24752 0 Posted May 24, 2016 Author Posted May 24, 2016 i tried to delete the old emby server befoe installing the betea one. now get the atatched error messege. is this a problem?
Luke 42078 Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 something is probably still running preventing that, which could possibly be the explorer window. having the folder open could prevent the uninstaller from working. if you still have an issue then just delete that mediabrowser-server folder and install the beta installer from the website. thanks.
billy24752 0 Posted May 24, 2016 Author Posted May 24, 2016 some success, loaded the new beta server and it loaded. however it appears to have not remembered my original data, and its not recognised that I am a paid user. how do I log in to my old info. thanks
Luke 42078 Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 some success, loaded the new beta server and it loaded. however it appears to have not remembered my original data, and its not recognised that I am a paid user. how do I log in to my old info. thanks If you uninstalled and loaded the beta then you're starting from scratch. You will need to configure the server again and also enter your Emby Premiere info under Help -> Emby Premiere.
