lightsout 156 Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 I have never had any issues with my server but it has mostly feed windows machines. Recently have been using the Nexus Player more often. I noticed with some movies that it will freeze, like a 3 second pause every minute or so. Checked the server and see that when the CPU hits 100% this happens. My CPU is an older AMD athlon x4. Not in the market to upgrade any time soon. The file that is being transcoded is a 15Mbps 1080p mkv. Video is AVC audio is DTS. I messed the the few transcoding settings on the server nothing really helped. Anything I can do to get smooth playback with this system. I thought there were some updates to the Android TV app that allowed for less transcoding, maybe that should be asked elsewhere.
Luke 42081 Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 Hi there, welcome. Sorry to hear about this. In order for us to best help you, please provide the info requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!
ebr 16185 Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 If your CPU is maxing out trying to transcode, the best option may be to convert the media to something that won't require it, or will be less taxing (lower bitrate).
