videodead 0 Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 I have just started testing out Emby as a replacement for a MySQL DB for my Kodi installs. So far, the only thing I'm not liking about Emby is how tagging movies is implemented. We use tags a lot and the implementation in Kodi works well for our needs. Is there any way to get Emby to add tags that are created with Kodi to the movie's .nfo file? Or is there a way, I'm missing, to add/edit tags in Emby other than finding each movie and editing them individually?
ebr 16192 Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 What do you use the tags for? And, are you still going to be using Kodi as the front-end (with the Emby Kodi plug-in)?
Luke 42085 Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 If you're wondering about existing tags in NFO metadata, yes we do support reading those.

We mainly use them as another to way to browse movies. For right now we would like to use Kodi, as that's the program everyone is used to. Something similar to the way collections are done would be great (but that looks like it would be a feature request).
Luke 42085 Posted May 20, 2016 Posted May 20, 2016 Ok, I can look into that for a future release. have you tried the metadata manager? it puts the library items in a sidebar on the left so that you can quickly click from one to the next, and edit and make changes.
videodead 0 Posted May 20, 2016 Author Posted May 20, 2016 Metadata manager is much faster than working in the movie view, thanks for that (hadn't gotten around to looking at it much yet). I think it would be nice to have tagging as easy as adding movies to collections and playlists though, with the context menu option that brings up a popup with the options.
