madfloyd 0 Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 I am pulling my hair out trying to get Emby to start when my Win 7 PC boots. I can put a shortcut to the server app in my Windows Startup folder but it doesn't run. If I double click on the shortcut (in that folder) the server starts up with no problems. I've gone to the Settings in the Emby Configuration and noticed that it was checked to load the tray at Start up and there was some kind of warning to not have have this checked when running the Windows service so I tried un-checking this and I still can't get the server to start automatically. Can someone please help me? Thanks!
ebr 16184 Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Are you trying to run as a service or not? If so, you will need to configure this in the Windows Services panel. And also configure proper credentials. If not, then the app won't start until the user who installed it logs on.
madfloyd 0 Posted May 18, 2016 Author Posted May 18, 2016 Thanks for the quick reply, Luke. I'm embarrassed to say that I don't know the difference between running as a service or not. I've setup my Win 7 to auto-log me on (i.e. no user/password screen).
revengineer 142 Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 For running as app you must be logged in. So if you want to run at boot without logging in you need to go to services and set the emby service to start automatic or automatic delayed.
dcook 299 Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 I recommend running as a Service, that way you don't have to worry if its logged in or not, or if you lose power/server reboots etc it will start up.
