avalon55 0 Posted May 21, 2016 Author Posted May 21, 2016 I am just on the Dashboard screen where it says FreeNAS emby server. Please can someone walk me throught the stages so that it will eventually work as it should do.
Luke 42077 Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 Well at this point it depends on what you want to do. Have you setup a media library?
avalon55 0 Posted May 22, 2016 Author Posted May 22, 2016 (edited) I had some problem with the emby plugin not starting, so I deleted it and reinstalled. Now I am asked to register my account, but when I enter my details , there are already in use, so why can't I just go to my account page, or have I missed something. Edit: I managed to get to the dashboard, then added media again, so yes I have setup a media library. What is next up? I am on the Users section and if I click on me, then there is a top menu: Profile, Access, Parental Control, Password Edited May 22, 2016 by avalon55
Luke 42077 Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 Next Up are your next episodes to watch in all your series. So for example, after you've watched Game of Thrones season 1 episode 1, your Next Up is episode 2. Does that help?

Where do I go next after this page: http://app.emby.media/useredit.html?userId=81c7eaf4054d406e9a0908c68881f6e4 Edited May 22, 2016 by avalon55
Luke 42077 Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 Well what would you like to do? At this point you've setup a media library, and you've setup a user, so now you can start using your server.

So from the said page, I don't have to do anything at all now, no login anywhere? No I don't think so, because after clicking through the pages on my laptop, I am asked to login. This is the root of the problem I have had since I installed the emby server, and I'm no further forward now than I was last week
Luke 42077 Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 The user is the user that you have just edited in the emby server dashboard and the password is blank. if you wish to assign a password, you can do it from the same user edit screen that you were just on (the password tab).
CBers 7450 Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 @@avalon55 - perhaps post screenshots with your posts so that we all know what screen you're referring to
avalon55 0 Posted May 22, 2016 Author Posted May 22, 2016 (edited) Well I never! What can I say except I just clicked on a user, me in this case and my media is there!!!! Pardon me for saying so, but I can't remember been told just to click on a user, and not to login, which is how it is or happens. The thing is, that when when presented by a login screen, what do you normally do. I usually login, or at least try to but could not because I should not have done so apparently! ebr 16169 Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 does it show you a user that you can click on? Ah , yes it does actually , me! So I clicked on the user and was presented with a dashboard! Well I never knew that is how to get to it.
Luke 42077 Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 So if i understand correctly, you saw something that looked like this, and you didn't realize that you could click on the user. is that correct?

Yes that is correct sir! Just one question now, do I have to have the server open and running before I can actually see my media in the dashboard? By server, I don't mean the emby_1 on my FreeNAS server Edited May 23, 2016 by avalon55
bluemonkey07 590 Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 Yes of course. ..the server is serving the dashboard webpage
Luke 42077 Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 ok so we'll add a header to that login page that tells you about this.
avalon55 0 Posted May 24, 2016 Author Posted May 24, 2016 (edited) Why is there a login buttons under the icon of a user which asks for username and password or manual login, if it isn't either needed or should not be used. Also why ask to sign in, because it didn't work for me. So I would suggest something like this 'Please select a user', and leave out the login buttons Edited May 24, 2016 by avalon55
dcook 299 Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 (edited) Here is my login page, I don't see any login under each user profile picture, I think its pretty obvious that you click on the user you want. Edited May 24, 2016 by dcook 2

Luke 42077 Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 Yes Ebr is right. When you create your users you have options to assign them passwords and to also mark them hidden. It was actually all covered in that wiki article I pointed you to earlier which you said wasn't helpful
dcook 299 Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 Luke, I wouldn't change anything, the Wiki is clear, and the manual login button is not under each user profile icon like he suggests its only on the bottom center of the screen, so I don't see how you would assume that the manual login button is attached to the profile icon.
