jasonmcroy 316 Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 Hey Luke, Maybe this topic is something you are already aware of or maybe I have something set up wrong or maybe it's a bug or something that can be achieved. So, my Live TV setup is that I have an HDHomerun Prime with the cable card (3 tuners in all) getting all of my channels. In addition I have an HDHomerun Extend unit (2 tuners) that is plugged directly into my cable to give me the Qam channels (locals only). Now that we can have guide data for both, it lists out NBC twice, once for the Cable card device and once for the Extend device on the Qam channels. If I set up a recording of a show on NBC via the guide, and say I choose the first NBC station that shows up in the guide (the Qam one) it will only record using that tuner. So, if I have a night where I am recording say 3 shows in the same time slot and I have picked all of them to be recorded from the guide via the Qam tuner, one of those shows will not get recorded. (I tested this today) Shouldn't the server recognize that no tuner is available and attempt to pick the next free tuner for the channel that doesn't make it into the recording from the first tuner? Or maybe another solution is that the Live TV section should merge all the channels that are repeats and only show one channel in the guide, thereby making the server just pick the first available tuner, then the next, then the next, etc. Am I missing something here and this should already be happening that way?
Luke 42077 Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 Yes it already does that but it most likely doesn't know that they're the same channel
jasonmcroy 316 Posted May 12, 2016 Author Posted May 12, 2016 Yes, I think the problem would be the naming. The Qam channels are going to have a slightly different name than the Cable channels. Also the numbering is different. NBC from Qam is going to be channel 8.1 and NBC via the Cable card is going to be 1008. So, if I had 2 Prime units pulling in the same channels they would merge and only show up in the guide as one channel? Is there an easy way to achieve that for two different units?
