Hello dear developers,

first I'd like to thank you for doing this awesome work with emby, it's really impressive to see a project, that is actively developed and which is working (mostly ) like a charm!

 

While using emby for the last few weeks I had some moments where I thought "oh, that'd be great, if it would be like that", so I thought I share my thoughts with you guys. I'd be glad if you would consider adding those (or a few) .

 

1. Normalizing audio, while streaming

While watching series in the shuffle mode it happens that some episodes are way louder than others and vise versa. Since the files are analyzed anway, I thought it'd be great to normalize the audio, so that one doesn't have to turn the volume up and down all the time.

 

2. Show progress of metadata fetching

While grabbing metadata for a huge library it'd be a great help if one would know the progress or at least show somewhere that emby is currently fetching metadata for episode xY from series Zx or movie xZ.

 

3. Changeable colors for the section buttons

I think that speaks for itself

 

4. Notifcation about new content found

When moving some new content to the server it'd be really helpful if one would get a notification (in the webinterface, not via some push service) that new content was found on the filesystem and emby is processing it.

 

5. Show the current processing content

An additional menu point or whatever in the admin dashboard that shows what emby is currently scanning would be very helpful. The statusbar itself is not that helpful imho.

 

6. Possibility to stop users current encoding or queue

Sometimes users forget to stop the play of their current queue and leave the house/go to bed/whatever, so the server is transcoding all the time for nothing. So it'd be great       to have the possibility to stop the current queue from the admin dashboard for the particular user (similar to plex). Actually the current transcoding progress is shown in the         admin dashboard, but without the possibility to stop/pause the transcoding or the queue.

 

7. Loglevel improvements

While trying to analyze the behaviour of emby or trying to find an error in emby, it happens that one has to look into the logfile. But the verbosity is quite huge. It'd be great to have several levels to log, so the log would be easier to analyze/to look at.

 

 

I hope I could describe my thoughts pretty clearly and I'd love to see those getting added to emby somewhen.

8. Keep Fullscreen

When playing a queue in fullscreen it should stay in fullscreen.

Hi welcome. Great ideas here.

 

Just fyi, #4 is already implemented for browsers that support web notifications. I think this is currently limited to Chrome and newer versions of Firefox, but Microsoft is working on supporting them in Edge.

 

#6, while not on the admin screen, is available through remote control so there is at least a way that it can be done.

Yes, you are right, at least it is working, but an easier way to do it (for the enduser) would be to have it like I mentioned it - well, easier for me at least. I don't know about other peoples opinions of course
