ab123ga 14 Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 I have been trying for a day to install the server for the first time but cannot get past in need to install MS Visual C++ 2010 x86. The install fails pointing to a log file that notes the installation of MS Visual C++ has failed. I have tried to go to the directory where the install program was loaded and tried to install and I can not install it. I went to control panel to see what was installed and saw a version of MS Visual C++ 2010 x86 installed and based upon some google searches uninstalled the program and tried to manually re-install. No luck. Has anyone has this issue? Env = windows 7 quad-core 12G RAM.
Brendon 119 Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 have you tried the redistributable installer from microsoft? x86 here or x64 here download, copy to your server and install
Luke 42077 Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 No because then the components that need it will fail and then you'll just be reporting that. The one in our pre req is an sp1 if that helps. I'm mobile right now but you can find it in our github repo under tools bootstrapper
ab123ga 14 Posted January 2, 2014 Author Posted January 2, 2014 Yes... I had tried that before with the same result. Direct install says did not install correctly do you want to install with recommended settings. I pick that option then it attempts to install again. No message however the version does not install. when I then attempt to try mediabrowser3 install again it notes 2010 visual c++ needs to be installed. Since I had a version installed previously I did a system restore in order to get what I uninstalled back. Same result. Is there a way to bypass the visual c++ check?
ab123ga 14 Posted January 2, 2014 Author Posted January 2, 2014 If what you are trying to tell me is the productID (F0C3E5D1-1ADE-321E-8167-68EF0DE699A5) of the required version can be found in the product.xml file then I can report that I did a search via regedit of that productID and nothing came back. When I was doing my searches yesterday I found where someone provided different product codes and the code below was found. The product version is 10.0.30319. I do have SP1 and when I did a search of windows updates this is the version that was updated via an update. This is the KB KB2467173. I can uninstall the update but I don't know the ill effects of that. Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86) - {196BB40D-1578-3D01-B289-BEFC77A11A1E}http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2010/05/05/10008146.aspx?Redirected=true
ab123ga 14 Posted January 4, 2014 Author Posted January 4, 2014 I tried to uninstall the windows update that changed the version from the SP1 to the updated version. The uninstall keeps it at the version 196BB40D-1578-3D01-B289-BEFC77A11A1E. Since the install looks only for version F0C3E5D1-1ADE-321E-8167-68EF0DE699A5 and I cannot get back to that version I guess there's not much that can be done. Thanks for responding.
