siredgar 6 Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 Example - "Batman: The Brave and the Bold" Obviously in Windows you can't use a : in the filename, so I've named the folder and files "Batman - The Brave and the Bold" MB3 doesn't recognize the show, so isn't pulling in the metadata. Is there a standard convention for how to handle shows with a : in the name? (Or other special characters for that matter if it comes up, such as * or ? etc)? I looked but didn't find it in the forums or naming guidelines. Thanks! --- John
Brendon 119 Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 Use an underscore mate, so set your filenames as Batman_ The Dark Knight and in the WeBUI metadata section you can then edit movies name if not already done by the server when it scrapes for data to Batman: The Dark Knight
Luke 42077 Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 you can use the web client to edit the tvdb or imdb id, then refresh from the edit page. once you do that, the name of the series will change to match the online source
gcw07 347 Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 Usually just ignore it. So just "Batman The Brave and the Bold"
rrb008 13 Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 I use theRenamer for TV Shows and don't thing about it again!
Luis 41 Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 I use theRenamer for everything (movies/series). I have a script that runs after a download completes and it takes care of it. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
siredgar 6 Posted January 8, 2014 Author Posted January 8, 2014 Thanks! Leaving out the : worked, but also some of my others that hadn't been showing up before seem to be identified now that I have the new version. I don't have a scientific before/after snapshot to verify that, but I don't have any unknown series/movies anymore with weird symbols in the name. Luke, previous I wasn't able to enter any ID information, those fields just weren't available for that series though I was fairly certain I had the folder structure correct otherwise. However now all my oddball TV/movies that need correcting seem to have editable ID fields. Anyway, all's working great - thanks! 1
siredgar 6 Posted January 8, 2014 Author Posted January 8, 2014 You have a link to renamer I can look at? I looked at a few renaming utilities, but I use Beyond TV for recording from my Satellite, and the naming convention it uses wasn't compatible with any of the renamers I could find (nor is the naming convention modifiable)

bluemonkey07 590 Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 Have you tried filebot? I have found it to be very good as well
Aussiedroid 56 Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 (edited) I don't know if this may help but did find a way to add a : in the name. Came across this with a download a while back and now use for some movies such as below: The Hobbit:An Unexpected Journey (2012) [1080p] [DTS+AC3].mkv You will notice its not the normal : rather an ASCI char ':' of some sort you could copy/paste to file name. Adds a small space either side of the dots too! Not sure what ASCI code to create so I just copy/paste each time Hope it helps. Edited January 9, 2014 by Aussiedroid
