AceBlade258 3 Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 (edited) I posted in the Linux thread about this, but I have just installed Emby on a Windows machine and am having the exact same issue. I can connect to my Chromecast like normal, but when I hit play on something, there is no response. The app (web/phone) animates the button press and does nothing. 3.0.5931.0 is the version I am using in both cases. Edit: It's comforting/cool to know Emby works the same on either platform! Luke 42083 Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 Hi, what this most likely means is that the Chromecast device cannot reach your Emby Server. If you look at the front page of the emby server dashboard, it will show the internal address. That is the address the chromecast will attempt to use in order to reach your server.
AceBlade258 3 Posted April 28, 2016 Author Posted April 28, 2016 (edited) Neither server is routed; I can use screen cast from the Windows box that is running the server. Edit: Also, why would the Emby app start on the Chromecast? Edited April 28, 2016 by AceBlade258
Luke 42083 Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 Neither server is routed; I can use screen cast from the Windows box that is running the server. Edit: Also, why would the Emby app start on the Chromecast? Because that only requires connection from your device to your Chromecast, which then displays the online hosted Emby app. But in order to actually play something, your Chromecast needs to be able to reach your Emby Server.
