buzzyone 0 Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 I have spent hours trying to get my MB3 working on my Roku 3 but have not been able to get it working. I downloaded the server at the download page. I tried to download the client but it seems it has already been added, (automatically?) I have tried to scan as suggested to find the server but I only get "can't find server'. I tried adding it manually but that didn't work. Not sure what to do now. I'm sure I'm not doing something right, I'm a novis who just wants to get this MB3 working. thanks for any help
CBers 7450 Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 (edited) You say you have downloaded the server - do I assume you installed it as well ?? If so, can you access the MB3 Dashboard ?? By default it is http://localhost:8096/mediabrowser/dashboard/dashboard.html You can substitute localhost in the URL for the IP address of the PC running MB3 server. The MB3 channel for Roku is available via the Roku website: http://www.roku.com/channels/#!details/34503/media-browser Edited December 30, 2013 by CBers
buzzyone 0 Posted December 31, 2013 Author Posted December 31, 2013 thanks for the help. As I stated in my post, I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to this kind of tech. To you its HooHumm stuff. To me its very confusing and I can't make heads or tales of it, I'm sorry for that. I did "download" the server BUT did not INSTALL it as you questioned. Dumb me. After I installed it, I went through the steps and got it to SORTA work. My TV scanned it and found the server. NOW all it shows on the screen is "SWITCH USERS" and "PREFERENCES (VERSION 1.16.7). I have no pictures or selection on the screen when I use either the "default" user or the "Owner". I am using Playon as my media source and I suppose I need to add it to this MediaBrowser3 somehow. I don't know how to do that. There is a spot for plug-ins on this mediabrowser3 but not sure I should put anything in there. I assumed everything that I did would be by default and all I had to do is turn the TV and my Roku3 on. Would you be interested in walking me through the process. If not I can do this by posting one question at a time and eventually getting to the finish. Thanks for your input and help. bob

We actually don't support play on at the moment so you need to have your own source for tv shows and movies. So if you have that, the first step is to set it up using the server's web dashboard under Media Library. Once that is complete you should be able to sign into the roku and browse the media.
gcw07 347 Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 You might have a read through this guide here: http://mediabrowser.tv/community/index.php?/topic/692-mb3-server-setup-and-configuration/ Should help you get the server up and running.
