crystalgipsy 4 Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 Just updated both my FireTV (1st Gen) and Shield to latest Emby thanks for getting 5.1 on the FireTV at last. Whilst this is a great update I am now suffering playback issues with it skipping frames. It seems worse on the AFTV than the shield but both systems are experiencing it. The AFTV says its Transcoding Video now on sources it never used to, I guess this is because its converting DTS to DD? Seems to push my CPU pretty hard on my QNAP for just audio though. The Shield displays playing direct. Any body else having any issues.
ebr 16169 Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 If you are seeing stuttering during a transcode, it is probably the server not able to keep up. A transcode log would shed light there. You can disable the conversion of DTS to DD.

ebr 16169 Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 its stutteirng on the Shield to and that does not transcode. Like I said, a transcode log from the one that is transcoding would shed light but, if stuttering for both you may have a network bandwidth or general server response issue going on.
crystalgipsy 4 Posted April 22, 2016 Author Posted April 22, 2016 Also CPU was not maxed out enough to cause skippin. Its perfomed better when its used most of the CPU in the past. There must something up with these new builds if its happening on both platforms. Playing via Kodi Emby addon on the same systems is fine.
MrWebsmith 598 Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 ebr ill help HE WANTS TO SEE A TRANSCODE LOG IN ORDER TO HELP YOU 2
Luke 42077 Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 Heres the transocode logs Hi, have you customized the app's bitrate setting? If so, can you change this back to Auto? Thanks.
ebr 16169 Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 On the Fire, if you turn off the option to convert DTS to DD does it play okay?
crystalgipsy 4 Posted April 22, 2016 Author Posted April 22, 2016 Will test without DD or DTS on Fire Tv next but I dont hold out for it working. Yes I changed it to 40mbs, this is the first thing I changed when I had issues with playback and it transcoding it was the same set to auto on both apps and has made no difference to the performance. My server and network are fine as Kodi add on and Archos player play same content just fine on the shield. I also just updated to the latest server no difference. Added server log. server-63596957688.zip
Luke 42077 Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 if you could please try those two things that would be great, thanks.
crystalgipsy 4 Posted April 22, 2016 Author Posted April 22, 2016 (edited) Its better with DD and DTS turned of on the AFTV probably the same as the Sheild but not perfect. Put it back on and its bad and the sync is off and I set it back to auto for the streaming rate. The only thing that make the difference is taking of DD and DTS. Edited April 22, 2016 by crystalgipsy
ebr 16169 Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 You have VLC enabled on the Fire TV? If so, and you turn off the conversion of DTS to DD playing back any DTS item will be identical to the previous version. My server and network are fine as Kodi add on and Archos player play same content just fine on the shield. That's not necessarily relevant. If your Emby server were bogged down with some task, it wouldn't affect those other programs.
crystalgipsy 4 Posted April 22, 2016 Author Posted April 22, 2016 Yes have VLC enabled on both systems
