Error playing movie on fire TV stick in kodi

There's no path substitution anymore it seems like. Try re-adding it on your server.

Typo, oops. Fixed and still fails to direct play.

Changed play from http instead of samba and tried again. That seemed to load faster. Tried with one other movie and that also seemed to load faster. However, I then went to settings and play from http was again checked.

So now this is the path:

smb://192.168.0.2/DD-Wrt/Movie-Tv/Parents/Bridge of Spies 2015 1080p BluRay x264 DTS-JYK/Bridge of Spies 2015 1080p BluRay x264 DTS-JYK.mkv

If that looks right, possibly you need a password?  Enter it under Settings->Playback->Network credentials.

It does look right. I am not really familiar with network credentials. I've looked around and don't really understand it. Is it the information that goes to my Samba share (usb connected to router) or to the Linux laptop that is running the Emby the server? I have no password or username for the Samba share but I do to log into the laptop.

Best way to figure this out:

1. Switch skin to Confluence

2. Go to Video->sub menu Files

3. Add network location

4. In server, put 192.168.0.2

5. In shared folder put DD-Wrt/Movie-Tv

Add the location and see if you can see the files.  If you can't, then try the laptop username/password.

Didn't work with 192.168.0.2. It did create a network connection with 192.168.2.1 (the IP of my USB hard drive). Tried to make one with the IP address of the laptop running as of emby server but it would not connect. Same error with direct play. Took longer to load.

Maybe you need to do the path substitution to 192.168.2.1 then..

In your last log, 'Play from HTTP' is on again.

You can confirm by checking your emby dashboard and just mouseover the Kodi device under active devices, while playing something :)

Well I may have spoken too soon. The video started buffering. Also, I Moises over kodi in devices and didn't see anything at all.

You may have to adjust your Kodi advanced settings for better performance. The add-on only provides the path/url to play, Kodi is still in charge of everything that happens at playback. You can probably google the solution :)

Yep - from your last log it is finally direct playing - so whatever stuttering you are getting now is unrelated to the Addon.  Glad you got it going!
