My version of apple TV is 1.06 dates 4 april.

Is this the latest version ? How does the app update ? 

Can I force a version update or it is automatic ?

Hi Shaun,

 

Yes that should be the latest version. In fact the application is broken up into two pieces. The base of the application is a Swift app and then the bulk of it is JavaScript. Releases of the Swift app are infrequent (only one so far) and happen automatically like other apps on the Apple TV.

 

On the JavaScript side of things the application periodically checks for a version update and then an alert is displayed asking the user if you want to update. You can restart the app which should get the latest version if one exists by selecting the user icon in the top right on the Home Screen and selecting Restart App.

thanks. Do the two different components have versions numbers ?. One for the swift bit and a different one for the Java bit ?

Yes, but the only one you care about is the one displayed in the user menu.

 

As mentioned above, the app will keep itself up to date and notify you if you need to restart.
