Running Pre-release version. Why???

This is not a big deal yet I'm curious for an explanation. I never signed up for beta testing. Why am I seeing messages saying "if you're seeing this it means you're running a pre-release version. Thank you..." These may not be the exact wordings but you get the gist.

You must have grabbed it from the website at some point. In the emby server dashboard, what version does it say you're running?

Running Version 3.0.5946.22772. And there's no way I could have grabbed it from the website. I've never manually (download) updated the server. It's auto updates and then ask me to restart. Under updating I have specified "stable version" only.

It's always possible we may have asked you to install it in order to test the fix for an issue. In any event, since it sounds like you prefer stable, you can just go ahead and install from the website on top of your current version.

@@Luke, my server has always been configured to update to beta (runs as a service so I always have a choice). At some point towards the end of last week, I observed that the dashboard was reporting an available update, but the designation was clearly for a dev version. I had no time to investigate & saw no mentions on the forums at that time, but when I checked later, the issue has been resolved. You'd have a better chance of explaining 'why?', but anyone configured for auto updates during this period would have picked up that version, I think?

I think it was showing a beta build.

Possibly, but for a while it reported something like '3.0.5946.vwxyz', which I believe denotes a dev version? When I checked later, it was back to  '3.0.5946'. Numbers are guesses, but the format is accurate. Honest. Struck me as odd at the time, but didn't think any more about it until this thread.
