emby server unresponsive

Hi,

This issue might be the same or similar to what I've been experiencing for the past couple of weeks.

Transcoding used to work fine until a few weeks ago. Now after a few minutes it crashes and I need to wait ~5 minutes before I can access the server again.

Looking at the logs I see constant dlna entries as described earlier in this topic.

I don't use dlna and I've now disabled it in the server dashboard as well though it doesn't seems to make any difference.

Sorry for the copy/paste but I'm away from home posting from my phone.

as a test, can you try disabling the dnla server and dlna play to features? thanks.

Last night I removed the network cable to the TV listed in the error message, which may have a similar effect to your suggestion. The TV was hooked to the network only several weeks ago, around the time when the issue first appeared. This morning the server is still responding and showing the ui, but I have to wait a couple of days to know for sure. Will post back here with my findings.

Transcoding used to work fine until a few weeks ago. Now after a few minutes it crashes and I need to wait ~5 minutes before I can access the server again.

This issue that is different. In my case the server never becomes responsive again, at least not within several hours of detection of failure. This was one of the first things I tried, letting the server sit and trying again in intervals. After about 5 hours I gave up and rebooted to bring emby back to life.

Note that your are not seeing any errors associated with DLNA.

Sorry, I think I copied a unrelated part. Seems my problem is different from yours though.

I noticed that there was another log after the last, which is attached here. It contains mostly DLNA errors. However, these errors ended several hours before the last log entries. I tried accessing the server at 6:00 am without success. At 7:29 I shut the service down through the service control panel, but the app never disappeared from the tasklist so a reboot was eventually required.

Something showing up again is that at 3:47 download of missing subtitles was executed. This task seemed to have never completed because it shows as being cancelled during the shutdown attempt.

I will still keep the TV disconnected to exclude DLNA as the cause of the issue.

Without the dlna TV connected to the network, emby has been running since Friday night. I will leave it running for one more day as is, then i will reconnect the TV to see if emby will become unresponsive again.

Just to close the loop. After reconnecting the DLNA TV last Tuesday, the server worked without problems until yesterday, when I took it down to update to build 5933. I have no clue why it is now working. If something changes, I will post back.

Thanks for the report.

The issue happened again at the beginning of the week, so I removed the network cable to the DLNA TV again. Unforttunately the server was working on a multiday task and since the emby server process cannot be killed through task manager, I would not resume testing until yesterday. (It also meant that my media library was inaccessible to the family which they were rather annoyed about.) To test whether removing the DLNA device solves the issue, I will resist the urge to update for the next week. Will post back.
