Local Trailers/Cinema Mode

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have just noticed that since the server upgrade recently, local trailers have stopped working. They used to work fine but now only the custom intro plays. This occurs in both WMC and the web client.

Local trailers appear as an option when I go into a movie and play without issue. Cinema Mode is enabled as the intro plays. I am not using the plugin as all my trailers are stored locally.

Any ideas?

Thanks as always in advance.

This should be resolved for the next release, thanks.

Wow, quick response. Thank you kindly.

I saw that a new server build was released yesterday so checked if the above problem with local trailers not playing before a movie. Sadly it appears this is still a problem.

It still only plays the custom intro but no trailers prior to this.

Until it is fixed, the work around I found on my server running on Linux is check the box to play older trailers as well and then the trailers will work. Every new build I uncheck the box and test.

Do you need more info to resolve this ongoing issue Luke?

Tired this on freenas 3.0.5913 and it still streams online trailers with only old trailers checked

Older trailers are online trailers as well. In 3.0.5931 when i enable only local trailers i don't get any online trailers

Yea I figured except the trailer that played was Dr strange which is in fact brand new, I'll have to wait until freenas is updated to 3.0.5931 to check again if only local trailers is working .

I am running server version 3..0.5943.0 and am still experiencing the same issue I describe here:

http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/33936-cinema-mode-not-playing-trailers/

I've attached new log files.  According to the transcode files, it still seems to be trying to play trailers that are not even showing up in my 'trailers' section.

I have Cinema Mode enabled for Movies and have New and Upcoming selected under play 'Internet trailers.  I have the Trailers plugin installed.

When I try play a movie on a web client, I get a 'video could not be played' error

it's probably something specific to that individual trailer as I cannot reproduce the problem. Also, the transcoding for firefox is more complicated than other browsers so it might very well be unique to that browser.

@@Luke, I get the same 'video cannot play' error when using the iphone app or chrome.  When I use kodi, the trailers just do not play (does not raise that error).  It happens every time I try play a movie - different trailers are always picked.  But the one consistent strange thing is - is that judging by the transcode logs, every trailer it tries to play is a trailer that does not show up in the trailers section on the server.

I've attached another attempt - using Chrome this time to show you it is not specific to given trailer.  It you manually try the trailer url in the transcode files, you will see it does not work - like it does not exist anymore...

I can manually play a trailer from the trailers section, no problem.  And the url in those transcode logs does work manually.

Not sure if there are any settings I can look at?  This was all working fine for me in the past - I don't know exaclty when it stopped working, but has been a couple of weeks now.  I have not touched the server on my end - other than the auto server updates.

So, this is still happening to me (running 5994).  Any thoughts on any settings I can check?  I have the trailers plugin installed and only have new/upcoming trailers checked off.  And cinema mode is set to play only new/upcoming trailers (and a codec intro - which does properly play)

I just don't understand why (judging by transcode files) it is trying to play old trailers.  These old trailers rightly do not show up when I manually view the trailers section.  I just tried again and it was attempting to play captain america winter soldier.

You issue seems to be the opposite issue to this thread it might be an idea to continue the discussion in your original thread

In my thread ebr pointed me here and in my thread when I tried clarifying my issue was a little different (i.e. not local trailers), I didn't get a response, but have received some responses in this thread.

I'll post where ever, but since there was a bit of traction here....

Yep it does.  If I check 'old trailers' then the old trailers do play.  Sounds like there is fix coming in the next server release.
