hatharry 113 Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 Hey Is the html5 Emby Theater able to be hosted from a local web server? 2
Luke 42078 Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 hi, not at the moment but a definite possibility in the future.
jscoys 147 Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 Personaly I don't think it's a big added value. Emby servers are really responsives, and after login page all the job is done by your server at home... It's like you already host your server at home. At the other side, if Emby theater stays on Emby server it's the assurance to permanently have latest releases, and that is a big added value. Was my opinion ;-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
hatharry 113 Posted April 14, 2016 Author Posted April 14, 2016 Having the option like server's emby connect and direct connect could be nice. some uses are better than others. I know shaving 300ms off my ping would make devices feel more "htpc".

bfir3 117 Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 One of the reasons I think this would be a nice feature is to provide a direct URL to an emby theater app connected to my server, which means they wouldn't need to enter any additional information (server host, port) to access content if they wanted to use the web theater instead of the normal web client.

What about the direct connect feature? You users just have to open an account on Emby website, you just have to link your local user to these Emby accounts and that's it! Luke 42078 Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 Yes the Emby Connect feature can help make it very easy for them.
bfir3 117 Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 It does make it easier, but still not as easy as using the web client. Using Emby Connect means that they have to sign up on an additional website. Right now, I can make a friend an account, give them the username and they can visit my server with the URL I provide for them and login with that account without any additional registration required. Emby Connect is nice, but if my users are only ever connecting to my server and I've made them all local accounts, it just seems like more of a hassle to them. If I could send them to www.myserver.com/theater, for example, and have them prompted with a simple login screen asking for their local account name and password to login to the Theater UI, that would be ideal for my usage. 2
kesm 25 Posted January 8, 2018 Posted January 8, 2018 Agreed, that is the reason why I keep sharing this link : http://myserverip:embyport instead of http://tv.emby.media. My users don't have to enter any server info and it's easier for them. That's too bad because I found the new interface really nice and I'm sure they would love it
