jonsson 1 Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 Hi, Will this client always transcode when there are external subtitles (.srt files) in the same folder as the movie? I know that the Plex tvOS version is able to direct stream with external subs so I would really like this feature in emby too
ebr 16169 Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 No, external subs shouldn't cause a transcode if the item is direct stream-able otherwise.
jonsson 1 Posted April 12, 2016 Author Posted April 12, 2016 Ok thanks. I thought it was transcoding when the subs are yellow? I could also notice a difference in movie quality between the systems. Also, the subs are alligned almost in the middle of the screen. Is this possible to change? Thanks for a great app
jonsson 1 Posted April 12, 2016 Author Posted April 12, 2016 Hi, I have now verified. All movies seems to be transcoding when played on tvOS. If I look at the server dashboard, active devices, it says that it´s transcoding. I´m on local LAN. Any ideas? Thank you.
ebr 16169 Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 In what format is the item? Apple only supports a very narrow specification of h.264 in an mp4 (m4v) container.
ebr 16169 Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 The device does not support mkv so they will have to transcode.
jonsson 1 Posted April 13, 2016 Author Posted April 13, 2016 How about the yellow subtitles. Is it possible to change the color and alignment? Thanks
ebr 16169 Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 How about the yellow subtitles. Is it possible to change the color and alignment? Thanks Perhaps in the future. The problem with the color is that I don't know of any outlined font available to us so it has to be a color that is visible on virtually any background.
