Rainking720 31 Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 Just a heads up I threw together a quick photo screen saver that applies a "ken burns" effect to pictures from any photos in your library. I have not done extensive testing on it, but it has worked on the few machines I've tried it on. You can install it by going into settings -> plugins -> install plugin and add from URL .. use the following URL: http://rainking720.github.io/photoscreensaver/package.json Then under the "General" button in settings there is a "screen saver" drop down.. select "Photos Screen Saver"... There are no options or anything for the screen saver yet. If you don't actually have any photos in your library this probably won't work either, but then again if that's the case I'm not sure why you'd be installing the plug in If you have any problems or feedback feel free to send me a direct message.. one thing i know it probably doesn't handle great right now is running in a window vs full screen.. the images don't pan properly and you see black space while it pans around sometimes. 9
Luke 42077 Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 if you want to see examples, I think he based it on this: http://www.toymakerlabs.com/kenburns/
the1legend 45 Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 @@Rainking720 I just tested this and it's working well on full screen. Thanks for your efforts!
jscoys 147 Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 Is it going to be part of the plugin catalog? Not sure if I reinstall ET in 2 years to find this topic to copy/past the link again... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1

Luke 42077 Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 Yes the app will ultimately have a plugin catalog but in the meantime you can install the plugin manually via url. 1

TroyBennett 9 Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 (edited) Since I don't have a keyboard attached to my htpc, it is impossible for me to enter the address without using copy & paste. That is because the keyboard that emby provides doesn't have the colon needed for the http:// part of it. And it doesn't install if you skip the http:// just thought the dev's should realize this. Theodore 136 Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 This looks great! Is there plans to bring it to MBC? I prefer the interface on MBC over MBT...
Rainking720 31 Posted April 18, 2016 Author Posted April 18, 2016 No plans on bringing this to MBC unfortunately. Would be a lot of work , and honestly media center has a pretty snazzy photo screensaver built in, it just doesn't directly reference your photo library via emby. This looks great! I really wish you would The WMC photo screensaver is pretty snazzy, but if it runs too long then Emby can't automatically disengage it when I play a movie using the web interface
blue65 2 Posted September 6, 2016 Posted September 6, 2016 Coming from the WMC platform to Emby Theater this is one thing I miss. I found this thread and was hoping this might be a great workaround until it becomes a Plugin option I tried to follow the instructions to install but they no longer seem applicable Perhaps worked on an older version of Emby Server but options have moved to a different place on a later version My server version is 3.0.6400 Any help appreciated. Thanks
JDizzy 21 Posted September 6, 2016 Posted September 6, 2016 (edited) Would love to see this implemented within Emby, or be able to apply the setting to movie backdrops and music Now Playing screen. That would be awesome! Edited September 6, 2016 by JDizzy
Rainking720 31 Posted September 6, 2016 Author Posted September 6, 2016 What kind of problems are you having with this? blue65 2 Posted September 6, 2016 Posted September 6, 2016 Thx for the quick replies everyone. Worked it out eventually overnight. I was looking in the Emby Server Plugin area for an option to add the URL Found it in the Emby Theater Plugin area.. Makes sense when you think about it. Hindsight is a wonderful thing Love the plugin. Everyone enjoyed the photos when I was playing music on the old WMC platform. This now gives me that option back.
LASooner 24 Posted September 10, 2016 Posted September 10, 2016 First off, Thanks for the plugin it's cool, wife loves family pics Would like some control over the movement as well as the handling of portrait aspect photos I think you should alternate the position of the date in the corner per photo, maybe have it go to each corner, it stays a little too stationary for a screensaver. An option to disable the date might be desired by some as well. I personally like having the date, just concerned about burn in.
LASooner 24 Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 No, but LCD's do burn in. I know this because I have a wife who has a habit leaving TV screens paused for hours on end.

casminkey 19 Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 This is a great plug-in! If anyone wants to build on it, I'd be happy to contribute a few $ to add more features. For those coming from WMC trying to make the push to Emby Theater as I am, this is a must have.
Rainking720 31 Posted May 3, 2017 Author Posted May 3, 2017 IF anyone's interested, i made a new version that I think works a little better.. if you want to give it a whirl it's at https://rainking720.github.io/PhotoScreenSaverV2/package.json I haven't tested extensively yet, but so far it seems to work well for me.
Rainking720 31 Posted May 3, 2017 Author Posted May 3, 2017 (edited) Screenshots won't do much, it's more the fading/panning/zooming effect that makes it worthwhile... It really is very similar to the previous version, I just found a better method of achieving the effect. I wasn't happy w/ how it handled larger pictures before and there were times it cropped the images in weird ways, and now it zooms/pans across them in a much more consistent way where you always get to see the whole picture. -- basically just applied this to your emby photo library: http://slideshowify.com/ @@Rainking720, any screenshots?
