Library Scan Taking Long Time

Recently I noticed that the library scans were taking an unusually long time. Normal they would take a little over a minute. This morning's took over 18 minutes. I am on Version 3.0.5931.0.

 

I looked at the server log and notice it was spending a lot of time looking for TV episodes that I don't have in my library.

 

For example I have NCIS Season 1. but the scan appears to be looking for every episode that has aired. (I have a lot of these old series that I have only the first season.)

 

Why is it scanning for items not in my library? I'm not really interested in episodes that are not in the library.

 

Is there a way of turning that part of the scan off?

 

I am presently in the process of converting my collections from the legacy [boxset] to the current method and have to run numerous scans. Sitting waiting for the scans to complete is annoying and I have 130+ boxsets

PS I took out of the library 6 of the older series. After the initial scan, a scan now takes 17 seconds
