jscoys 147 Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 Hi, A weird thing happens to me here : Don't know why but as you can see on this video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8yRkSSsML4, I'm not able to ask server to download the picture of Robert Downey Jr. I don't know if other pictures are broken or not, I went into the directory and the picture's not there... Nothing works, refresh, picture edit, identifying... Any ideas?
Happy2Play 9780 Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 (edited) You need to post a log. Yes there is something weird with Robert Downey Jr. but after getting a blank/no image, "Identify" repopulates image for me (Beta 5931). Error after attempting to change image. Image is actually deleted from people folder and not changed to new image. http://whs2011-home:8096/emby/Items/df7a60e16343b84bbd5fad14e237e4b8/RemoteImages/Download?Type=Primary&ImageUrl=http://image.tmdb.org/t/p/original/zY5osf94NzImi2FoqSQvdSb0SQz.jpg&ProviderName=TheMovieDb. Happy2Play 9780 Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 (edited) This happens with all actors have "periods" at the end of their names. Tested on "Cuba Gooding Jr." also. Edit image deletes current image and doesn't apply new selected image. Identify brings back "Identify" selected image. Stable (5913) and Beta (5931) Got same results a OP on Dev 3.0.5943.25421 - Blank/no image, unable to edit/change image and Identify doesn't add image. Could it be the way the path is listed, since that path technically doesn't exist with a "period" on windows? Edited April 10, 2016 by Happy2Play
jscoys 147 Posted April 11, 2016 Author Posted April 11, 2016 Ok I use the Version 3.0.5927.0 (beta) and as the video shows in my first post, I've got the same symptom as yours @@Happy2Play. Could a dev look into this?
ebr 16184 Posted April 11, 2016 Posted April 11, 2016 This is an old issue that has cropped back up I guess. Windows folder names cannot end in a '.'.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 (edited) You can try deleting the "." at the end. Path can't be modified. The problem is you would have delete the "." in every movie/episode metadata that contained the person and modify providers and that isn't going to happen. There is a problem in the Server code that is presenting a "period" in the path that doesn't exist in the folder name. Edited April 12, 2016 by Happy2Play
jscoys 147 Posted April 12, 2016 Author Posted April 12, 2016 (edited) And why Emby Server for Windows can't do all processes without the "." at the end? When it found a name in nfo files ending with a period it only has to delete it, then create a folder without ".". When it's time to display the person information, if a "." is present at the end, the server just has to delete it when it's time to go into perso folder... I think it could work... Or we ask to Microsoft to allow "." at the end of a folder?! Edited April 12, 2016 by jscoys
PeteMB 13 Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 For the time being you can just manually upload the poster image to the correct people folder ( .\metadata\people\r\robert Downey jr) and the poster image will show in the web client and emby theatre. In windows media center client the picture will not show up. 1
jscoys 147 Posted April 19, 2016 Author Posted April 19, 2016 What is weird is that the problem seems to appear only when I try to edit the pictures for an actor with a period at the end... Before that it was ok, the picture was there after the first "Refresh people" cycle... So I think it's only in the edit pictures subroutines that the period is causing problems. So it's not a big deal to resolve it right? (P.S : I just manually put a poster.jpg in the folder to resolve my problem... And I see the picture displayed well on all my Emby apps... Once again, it can perfectly get the picture from this directory without period!).
