kcprophecy 3 Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 Hey, not sure if this is server related or Android App/Chrome related but since I saw another playback issue here thought I would post my own problem. I am currently running the Beta Android App and noticed yesterday that playback on it was failing as soon as I attempted to play any type of media back. If the content was TV/Movie related the application would report playback error and go back to homescreen. If the content was music it would act like it was going to play but just not do anything. The same problem also occurs if I use chrome app on phone using SSL port 8920. The same problem also happens if I connect via Chrome to my reverse proxy. However, on the same phone playback through firefox on both the SSL port 8920 and through my reverse proxy is successful. I have captured all the server logs of the different attempts at playback so I am hoping to either get some assistance, or if it's a bug get it addressed. Please let me know if you need me to provide any further information to help isolate issue, thanks guys and keep up the good work! https://paste2.org/py8jpGVz - Android Application Playback Error https://paste2.org/Vy3G6YnH - Android Chome Reverse Proxy Playback Error https://paste2.org/AtV4nA8Y - Android Firefox Reverse Proxy Playback Working https://paste2.org/wxILY67b - Android Firefox Port 8920 Playback Working https://paste2.org/t62yYMzO - Android Chrome Port 8920 Playback Error
Luke 42077 Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 Is this a self signed cert? The android app uses libvlc and currently we cannot force it to ignore SSL errors. It's something we'll be looking to resolve in a future release. For the browser, I'm not sure why one is working but not the other. You may need to install the cert onto the device.
kcprophecy 3 Posted April 9, 2016 Author Posted April 9, 2016 Hey Luke, thanks for the quick response. The certificate being used is from positivessl, the cn is for my domain.com, use cname record of www.mydomain.com for emby. The certificate in chrome shows good, no errors, playback just fails. I did have a certificate issue prior to this, I made the pfx incorrectly. That issue prevented me from even connecting to the server directly over 8920. I will look at putting the cert directly in phones trust store and see if this resolves. Will report back once I have done so, hopefully tonight. Sent from my XT1095 using Tapatalk
kcprophecy 3 Posted April 10, 2016 Author Posted April 10, 2016 Hey Luke, I imported the certificate but still no luck, Android see's it as a client certificate since it doesn't contain the CA attribute because it's not a self signed certificate. Here's a log from the Emby application on my phone, it isn't from the times from my original testing, but after I had tried importing the certificate and doing random tests. I tried removing the www from my dynamic DNS to have it match up exactly with the cn in the certificate, but no dice still. https://paste2.org/DnUfGZMO - Android Application Log Here's a screen shot of it also working on my computer after setting it back to www using Chrome connected over 8920. On this same computer though I get playback error if I use chrome to connect to my reverse proxy for Emby. Playback on firefox on the computer works through both my reverse proxy and port 8920. Sorry if it seems I am throwing a lot of different stuff at you guys but just trying to provide as many pieces as I can in hopes of fixing it. My main thing is just getting a working Emby Android application. I'd really like to keep SSL enabled for the application if possible so any assistance you guys can provide would be much appreciated.
