feardamhan 6 Posted April 8, 2016 Posted April 8, 2016 (edited) Sorry for the noob question. I'm just not sure the threads I'm reading apply. Windows 7 with Emby for WMC - library browsing...works like a charm (very responsive). With Emby Theatre, it seems to take far longer to load backdrops/posters etc, plus every now and then I just get the spinning wheel more or less indefinitely (have to exit and re-enter the area of the library I'm in to give it a kick start). Not 100% sure, but it could be since I added the music collection to the Emby library (even though thats not necessarily the part of the library I'm browsing when having the issue) It seems a little better in HTML 5 vs Emby Theatre for Windows...but same issues when compared with Emby for WMC. Paradoxically, playback quality on Emby Theater for Windows seems far more pixelated than through HTML 5. Is that normal? Thats even with the HTML 5 client being connected wirelessly to a router, and router to switch (where NAS drive and Emby Server are connected) via ethernet over power line. The Emby Theater for Windows playback is on the Emby Server itself, and therefore has a 1Gb wired connection to the NAS. Been reading this thread, but not clear if this applies to me. http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/33127-bad-image-qulatiy-during-playback/ So I guess I have two noob questions....firstly...is it expected / normal for library browsing to be soooooo much slower through Emby Theater vs Emby for WMC, and secondly....should HTML 5 client be so much smoother that Emby Theater for Windows even with its significantly slower network connection. Just splashed out on Emby Premiere....but finding its not passing the wife test and having to go back to Emby for WMC for good user experience. Hopefully its just a few settings that need tweaking and/or some education on my part. Edited April 8, 2016 by feardamhan
Luke 42078 Posted April 8, 2016 Posted April 8, 2016 library browsing should be much faster, but during your first several uses it may seem slower because the app hasn't yet built up an image cache. As that builds up it will get faster. The image quality discussion that you're linking to only applies to the Windows version. On the web version, image quality will vary depending on whether transcoding is needed or not. For best results, and performance, use the latest version of the Chrome browser.
feardamhan 6 Posted April 8, 2016 Author Posted April 8, 2016 Thanks Luke. Its the quality of the Windows version that bothers me. Sounds like I will give that a go then and see what happens. Is there a way to get the image cache to fully build other than through ad-hoc navigation? library scan is done....so thought that would cover it.
Luke 42078 Posted April 8, 2016 Posted April 8, 2016 No, it just takes using it. All of the apps work that way, including Emby for WMC back when you first started using that.
