Lots of freezing after episodes and when Emby sits for a few hours.

My set up is as follows:

• Windows 10 HTPC running my server and this is also where all my media lives which is played through Kodi and Emby Add-On
• FireTV Hard wired on my network running Emby app
• Fire Stick wireless (of course) running Emby app
• Android phone running Emby app

 

I am not sure if this is a server transcoding/streaming setting or if there is a setting on my FireTV app I need to change.  My guess is my issue bandwidth.  My IPS is is 15Mbps Download and 1.5Mbps Upload.  As stated I have my FireTV hard wired on my network but I am still fuzzy on if the streams it gets is through the internet or through my network.  Is there a way to set it either way?  My guess is it is the internet since the Emby app on my phone connects when I am not on my Wifi so wouldn't the FireTV be the same way?  

 

So with that said when I play shuffle on a series it won't play the next episode.  It either freezes up the video of the one it just finished and you will hear audio from the next, or it just does nothing for few minutes then it will start to play also with no video, only audio.

 

And on a side note, If I go to use the FireTV after it has sat for some time, Emby is locked up to a blank grey screen.  I have waited upwards of a minute with it never coming back on.  The solution (every night when I go to bed and watch TV) is I have to Force Stop the application the re-launch it. 

 

Is there a way to fix that too?

If on your local network, bandwidth probably isn't the issue.

 

Do you have problems advancing to the next episode either manually (using the on-screen button) or when playing episodes normally in order?

 

Are these items transcoding or direct playing?

I believe I was having issues with manually advancing to the next episode as well.

 

As for transcoding, I never set anything so whatever it is out of the box. Are we referring to the server 'Playback Settings?  Sorry if I am not asking the right questions.

Please confirm whether it is only a problem when automatically advancing and whether it is related to the shuffle or, maybe even, a specific TV series...?

 

Look on the OSD when you play these items.  What does the last gray box say?
