stombie18 0 Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 I'm playing a movie with AC3 5.1 audio. Its listed in emby as having 5.1 audio. When I look at the server when I'm playing it is says it direct playing it, but I'm only getting stereo from the AFTV. I have the AFTV set to Dolby Digital Auto. Any idea what's happening?
Deathsquirrel 745 Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 If it's a first gen fire tv you aren't going to get 5.1. That was software locked to just prime video and, I think, Netflix.
stombie18 0 Posted April 2, 2016 Author Posted April 2, 2016 (edited) Sorry should have provided more info. Second gen fire TV and emby server is running on windows 10 PC. Edited April 2, 2016 by stombie18
Deathsquirrel 745 Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 What android version is running on the device?
ebr 16169 Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 Dolby Digital only has very minimal support on the Fire TV platform. Specifically, it is only supported inside an MP4 container. Our app will currently downmix if direct playing. It can deliver 5.1 if you transcode though.

It lights up my receiver with Dolby digital. How do I make it transcode the movie?

On my gen 1-- Plex can pass through Dolby Digital regardless of container (mkv works great also along with mp4)... Kodi can pass through most anything, but Emby can not. Why transcode when you can direct play? Edited April 3, 2016 by JDizzy
