ebike 13 Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Hi All, This is my first try out of Enby and have a few questions on the server and running on the above platform. I am running ArchLinux on the XU3 and have installed the server and ran it fine (I compiled ffmpeg from source to include neon support). I can enter the webpage dashboard fine and have told it about my media. I have also installed the Trailers and TVHeadend plugins. My issues are as follows: 1. There is no metadata/album art etc for any of my media, do I have to have premium edition to get those? 2. Not all trailers play, at least half the time I get "Video Error" box come up, no other details .. 3. DVD's I have in my media play fine, I notice they all are transcoded and use approx 50% of my total CPU on my 8-core ARM U3, even 1080p divx movies seem to transcode fine .. 4. Apart from a plugin for Kodi, is there a custom client, or is that happening sometime in the future? 5. I have given the TVHeadend client my server details, but nothing shows up, any ideas? Emby seems to have a bit less overhead on the server side than my current Plex server, which is great. As soon as my issues are resolved, I will be getting a Lifetime membership ..
ebike 13 Posted March 30, 2016 Author Posted March 30, 2016 ok, all quite so I will update my own thread. 1. I restarted Emby and have most of the metadata .. lot's missing though, Plex did a better job here .. 2. Restart helped here as well .. 4. Seems that a Linux client is in the works .... looking forward to that. 5. Still working on this one, created another thread on this issue .. Anyone know how to get a better hit rate with the metadata/posters especially on Music?
Luke 42077 Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 Hi there, welcome. For the metadata issues, we should look at some specific examples. Thanks.
ebike 13 Posted March 30, 2016 Author Posted March 30, 2016 (edited) Hi Luke, Thanks, examples are: 1. B. B. King Album: "B. B. King & Friends: 80" .... just track names, no artwork 2. Chris Rea Album: "The best of" ..... Not even mentioned in Metadata Manager. 3. Eric Clapton & B.B. King Album: Riding with the King .. no artwork Attached is a screenshot of all the missing artwork in Metadata Manager Edited March 30, 2016 by ebike
Luke 42077 Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 Thanks. i need to see what the folder structure looks like for each example. thanks.
ebike 13 Posted March 30, 2016 Author Posted March 30, 2016 (edited) I think I see the issue: The examples above structure is only: Album/Track where as it should be Artist/Album/Track right? Plex was a little less particular on that issue .. it managed to work it out. No 3. above is in the correct format though. I will re-arrange a few to see if it helps .. EDIT: It did not help making it Artist/Album/Track EDIT2: Actually it did help on the "Chris Rea" album, but not the "Chris Spheeris" one ... One thing that has caught me out at times. I go to the web setting page and start a media scan to pick up my re-arranged directories .... I would have thought that process wouldrun completely run in the background, but it doesn't. If I navigate away from that page to some other pages, then go back to the page to see the status of the scan, it has cancelled it, If I stay on the scan page and let it complete, it works ok. That seems to me a bug .. Edited March 30, 2016 by ebike

The scan is completely in the background.
ebike 13 Posted March 30, 2016 Author Posted March 30, 2016 Well the UI shows it as stopped, not restarted. "Last Scan" is some hours ago ... On another issue: When I corrected an incorrect Artist name (Chirs Tomlin to Chris Tomlin) did a rescan, then go back to Music/Artist, I still see the old Chirs Tomlin Album PLUS the new correct Chris Tomlin one. I have tried all sorts of re-freshing in different places, but no difference ..I can't get rid of the old Chirs Tomlin entry. The Metadata Manager shows correct though ... just the corrected one. Last Issue: I don't know if this is a browser issue, but when I navigate to Music/Artist/Song and then use the UI back-arrow to go backwards, I can't and I have to go to the parallel lines symbol top left, and go back to Music . My browser is Firefox.. Cheers & thanks for all the help
Luke 42077 Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 For music, it's always best to edit the song tags directly and just let emby react to the changes. i suppose we should put that information in the server UI. I can't reproduce the navigation issue. It takes me back to the album screen.

I can't reproduce the navigation issue. It takes me back to the album screen. But the metatdata manager shows the song tags as correct, it is just the albums displayed under Music/Artist do not reflect the tags .. I even removed the Chirs Tomlin Metadata directory out of /var/lib/emby/metadata/artists .... but still it shows under Music/Artists ... how do I kill this thing. Is there a way to get a completely new metadata, i.e delete all first, start from scratch .. Regarding the navigation issue, eventually after a wait, it allowed me to go back to the Music top level ... Album view is even worse for Art .. see attached Dang!! The editor won't let me upload the latest screenshot .. and it's only 400k EDIT: Had to use the Chromium browser to attach the image .. navigation works better too ... seems Firefox has issues .. ebike 13 Posted March 31, 2016 Author Posted March 31, 2016 Any way I can resolve this? Also, what is the story with the horrible looking Windoze style coloured tiles in HTML5 Theater? Yuk .... Everything else about Emby looks great .... IMHO
Luke 42077 Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 open the metadata manager and try refreshing your music top level folder. now that you've re-arranged your folders this might help. unfortunately there won't be a way to monitor the progress but just give it some time and then review some albums.
ebike 13 Posted April 1, 2016 Author Posted April 1, 2016 Hi, I tried doing a "full refresh" from the metadata manager (I presume I have to press "Save" as well? .... it is not clear), and I have waited an hour .... but still the "Chirs Tomlin" folder exists in Music top level even though it does not show in the manager.... Also, looking at the info from metadata manager all the artists are missing the "logo" image, 1/2 of them the "primary" image and "backdrop" images ... Is this the best I can expect from Emby? Is this normal? So in an attempt to try fresh with this .... can I clear out all the data from /var/lib/emby ..... or some sub folder .....and start again?
Luke 42077 Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 no, you don't have to press save. if you could, i would try this on some brand new music files just for testing.
ebike 13 Posted April 1, 2016 Author Posted April 1, 2016 if you could, i would try this on some brand new music files just for testing. I don't have any new music to add .... and can you please answer the questions I ask ...
