Hello MediaPortal users,

in version 1.3.3.0 of the tv plugin there are some bigger changes to the configuration page,

so please review your settings!

@@jds828 @@jsmorency @@optimalt and all the other iOS app users:

Please set "Stream delay" formerly "Mediainfo delay" back to default of 1500

and uncheck "Enable Direct Playback" and "Enable Direct Streaming" instead!

Really? :(  Can you post your server log please?

Btw. what is CP?

CP is Control Panel... Sorry, still in geek mode.

I just set the timer to 0 and ET is working but IOS still starts and stops.

Check you PM for logs

Something is wrong there. Please make a screenshot of the streaming settings in the plugin!

What does enable emby tranacoding do?

What does enable emby tranacoding do?

In general it only sets the property true for "supports transcoding" in mediainfo [emoji6]

The other both option also deliver info about codecs, bitrate and so on...

The server will ignore your value, fyi. That's not really intended for the plugin to specify

Interesting! The supports directplay and supports directstreaming properties do have an impact.

Direct stream shouldn't either. It's something the server decides

Okay some more rework for me [emoji1]

Btw. something isn't right with direct streaming. If i set supports directplay to true, the stream direct plays in Android and Theater. If i set it to false Emby transcodes video and audio! Shouldn't it just stream copy?

Posted

Not necessarily. The values don't force anything, they just indicate what is supported

That's what i mean. When the clients are able to direct play the streams but i say that's not supported, shouldn't Emby use the next best option here - direct streaming without transcoding?

The reason i ask is, direct streaming would enable Emby side timeshifting without the need of much cpu power. Wouldn't it?

This is what I get:

Enable Emby Direct Playback - Unchecked

Enable Emby Direct Streaming - Unchecked

Enable Emby Transcoding - Checked

= Transcoding in ET, transcoding in Chrome, works with Edge and iOS

Enable Emby Direct Playback - Checked

Enable Emby Direct Streaming - Checked

Enable Emby Transcoding - Checked

= No transcoding in ET, no video transcoding in Chrome, only play for a couple of seconds on Edge and iOS

No, not necessarily. Direct stream with a middle man often doesn't work out that well.

That is really too bad [emoji20]
