Emby theatre: remote access of friend

Hi,

 

I really like ET for use on a PC.

My question, is it possible for a friend invited to my server to access that server with Emby theatre without him having premiere.

Where the server has premiere. And the friend is outside the local network of the server.

 

I understand the family rule and agree, just dont know how it works with ET since there is no standalone purchase option for it (in my opinion a little sad).

As it stands now, they would have to log into ET at least once while on your local network.  That would unlock the premeir features.  Keep in mind that if they delete the server from ET or I have even seen after an upgrade, that the premeire unlock is lost until on the Local Lan again.

That wont work because you buy the premiere subscription for the server.  So unless he is running his own server (which obviously he is not) then there is no reason to purchase the subscription.  What really needs to happen here on the emby side, is there should be an option to unlock these features.  I know some of the apps have this ability but seeing as ET is an application downloaded directly instead of through a store, the implementation would be different I suppose.

 

As a work around, you could setup a VPN and have your friend connect through that once to get the activation.  Then just connect through the internet from then on.  My only issue with this is I feel emby needs to be supported, you and I both already pay for the premiere subscription but If I have friends who want those features,  emby deserves to get that revenue.  I shouldn't be able to use my premiere for 1000 friends...

I agree, a simple purchase of ET like with the other apps should be possible, in my opinion.

Would exactly mitigate that problem.
