Symmetrical Gigabit connections are sweeping across the country.  It is in my neighborhood now.

Hah, I'd love for it to sweep into my gigantic metropolitan area. Simplicity for many can sometimes outweigh the consequence of the few. Anyway just a suggestion, do what you need to do. I'll continue supporting you either way

Comcast/Xfinity has 2Gb in my city...for a mere $299.95/mo.

Do you have to pay the extra $30 a month to remove the 300 GB monthly data cap?

Right now, we don't have the data cap in our area (thank goodness for that).  Otherwise, I would exceed that every month.

Comcast's website doesn't really mention that data cap on the Gigabit Pro web page.  But 2Gb up and 2Gb down would be awesome.  Right now, I'm 150Mb down and 12Mb up.  That's pretty ridiculous.

Yeah, I checked our usage and just my working from home, xbox live, and using lots of netflix HD for four people is pulling 400-600gb/month.  That's without a single torrent client in the house.  I shudder to think what it's like for big downloaders.  If they implement data caps I'd cease being a customer just about instantly.  Now if Google would just commit to Portland l'm sure threats like that would magically disappear.

I am worried about data caps when Charter takes over Time Warner. Doesn't appear we can stop that merger. Currently doing between 600 and 850 GB per month. I don't think they count bandwidth with the TWC TV apps though. Unfortunately, Cable is the only player in town when it comes to High-Speed Internet. I have 100 Mbps down and 10 Mbps up. The closest competitor is Verizon with Copper DSL that maxes at 3 Mbps down. No fiber anywhere to be seen.
