Mixed media photo problem

Hello, I have a need for a mixed media library. I need to store pictures, audio and video files. Currently I have it setup with the mixed media content type, and the pictures do not show up at all. I read a post on this forum that if there is to be photos in the library that you have to set it up as a photo content type. So I'm looking for some direction. If I setup a library for photos, can I also have audio and video files in it? Also, what is the intended purpose of the Unset Mixed Media content type if I can't mix the media?

photos will detect the videos but not audio. there is currently no way to have a library for all three. perhaps in the future.
