Pikok 0 Posted March 19, 2016 Posted March 19, 2016 Hey all. I've been using Emby for a little while now and am very pleased with it. I think it's a great piece of software that does many things that improve my viewing pleasure. The only thing I've been struggling with, and I'm aware it's been asked before, are subtitles. I've searched and found many posts referring to my issue in one way or another, but usually the OP didn't follow up with feedback from the team and/or the OP didn't experience the same issue as myself. However, even though this isn't a crucial issue, I'd still like to understand how to resolve it. I'm fairly sure this can be fixed by changing some settings, but I'm unsure as to what else i can do. In Metadata - Subtitles i've set Emby to download English and Dutch subtitles. I'll usually watch shows with English subtitles to maximize my viewing pleasure. However, sometimes i'll want it to be in Dutch. I've also told Emby to pretty much always download the subtitle file, no matter the situation. Or at least that's how i interpret it. Settings: http://i.imgur.com/HdHaQEl.png Additionally I also have Auto Organise enabled, although I don't think that it causes the issue. Under certain conditions I've noticed that only the Dutch subtitle file is downloaded. When I play the video it'll suggest both the Dutch and the English subtitle. This lead me to believe that the English subtitle must be embedded. Unfortunately, due to the subtitle being embedded. I experience various issues displaying it through Chromecast. The dutch subtitle will work fine, but the English one requires a pretty long time until it works and will randomly disappear and reappear. It's too annoying to work with. Other videos, which I can only assume don't have the subtitle embedded, will have a separately downloaded SRT file and will work like a charm. Example of a file with embedded sub: http://i.imgur.com/HdHaQEl.png Example of the folder with only a Dutch subtitle: http://i.imgur.com/OjuSnxP.png My question now is: How can I fix this? As far as I am aware I've told Emby to download the English subfile, but it seems like it's ignoring me. I've went into the Scheduled tasks and told it to manually check for new subtitles, but to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Currently I go into every episode manually and search for the English subtitle. This works, but it's a tedious workaround. Thanks!
Solution Luke 42083 Posted March 19, 2016 Solution Posted March 19, 2016 Hi, welcome. For the next release i"ll change that setting to be based on any embedded subtitle rather than just embedded graphical subtitles. Thanks. 1
Pikok 0 Posted March 20, 2016 Author Posted March 20, 2016 Luke, That's great. Thanks! If this is available in a dev or beta version at one point I'm more than willing to test it out.
