Searching within movie texts

I don't know if we'd ever do anything like this, but I just had this crazy idea. If we were to download subtitles for every movie in the user's collection, we would effectively have full text searching capabilities throughout the entire movie.

 

can anyone think of possible uses of that?

 

only thing i can think of is @@chef's kinect app - jump to a point in the movie by reciting the dialogue that you can remember..

 

or maybe parental control, to get a quick summary of language used throughout the movie

It could be used for a plugin for a movie/tv trivia game based on the user's library. Show a bit of dialog and some thumbnails from the library. The user has to match the dialog to the right video. Could be a fun addition to "Family Movie Night".

I too think it would be a cool idea. The practical purposes (searching for specific place in a movie, parental controls, etc) would be very handy, but I really like the Trivia game idea!
