Sync with FTV2, MicroSD Card

I am running low on space on my FTV2 and added a 128GB MicroSD Card.  I have since moved Emby for FireTV to the MicroSD card.  I have a movie that's been waiting to sync, but is not actually syncing.   Can Emby for FireTV handle the app being on a MicroSD card, and will it sync the movie there or to internal storage?  Internal storage is full, so I am hoping since he client is on the MicroSD card that the sync would place any sync files there as well?

Thanks,

Marcus

If you are talking about the actual Emby for Fire TV app, then it does not support sync at this time.

Hmmm, somehow on the server I have 2 movies waiting to sync for Tiamat, and one showing as waiting to Sync for the Emby app.

Odd. Even the Tiamat sync will only seem to work to the internal storage not the microSD card despite the apps being hosted on the MicroSD card.  @@Redshirt says he is just using the java connection library that luke wrote, and has no control over the location of where the media is stored.  It sounds like no Android apps will be able to sync to a MicroSD card until potentially that code is updated.  It is a pity as that eliminates FireTV's as a current or future possibility (until the java library is updated) for syncing with having only 8GB of local storage.  Thankfully the Nvidia Shield's just use the MicroSD card as a replacement of internal storage and it works there.

I think the sync jobs are handled one after the other rather than multiple happening at once. If the sync to the Emby client is first on the list and has stalled then it's probably holding up all syncs that are queued behind it. Try cancelling that sync job from the web UI and see what happens with the others.

Let me try that

I deleted the Emby Sync job and it still has not synced in TiaMat.  But everytime I go back I get a popup that internal storage is full.   Going to explore with file explorer now for an Emby directory.

That's a shame, that means that the library is currently set to only use the internal storage. It's too bad that the Fire TV isn't like the Shield where you can set the device to use the external storage as if it was internal.

Luke, ebr or myself will need to modify the library to support syncing to external storage. Unfortunately I think all three of us are going to say the same thing. "I don't have the time". Bunch of slackers :)

So I cleared up 3GB of space, and it started to sync, but as I watched in Tia I could see the internal storage get lower and lower until sync failed and I got a internal storage out of space popup.  Sigh.

Anyone want to buy a FTV2?  Lol it is worthless to me at this point.   Off to buy another Shield =)

Android TV may be different but I believe the issue with the android mobile app was most device's handled things differently and when Luke allowed used to select sync location the failure rate was too high

Yeah, on the Nvidia Shield, either you get the 500GB Pro version, or the 16GB version, and you add a 120GB MicroSD Card and it makes that the internal card.  So 120-500GB of storage is perfect for syncing, and TiaMat Sync's it without any issue.

Once you've tried a shield every other android device feels inferior :)

That makes sense. You have to deal with wildcards like the device not seeing the storage, or the storage being removed. Or a myriad of other reasons that it just won't work.

Yea I was meaning android TV may be more strict / standardised in this regard so it might not be as much of an issue
