Jack Burton 98 Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 Just curious how you guys use the program. I generally exit after each session, but noticed a fair bit of lag until everythings loaded after each startup. I've been swapping a bunch of stuff between hard drives so that might have something to do with it, since it definitely takes longer lately. Any issues with simply minimizing it when not in use, or is it better to shut it down?
techywarrior 689 Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 I close after each session. With the new ET it checks, and updates, on launch so it helps to occasionally restart it in order to get the latest version. Also, I haven't seen lag when assets are already cached. Of course the "problem' is that if you don't view all the items in the different image sizes it can take a long time to cache everything (especially with a large library).
Koleckai Silvestri 1154 Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 (edited) I run it on my personal workstation so I close it when it is not in use. Haven't noticed any lag but have an 115 Mbps internet connection. Edited March 16, 2016 by Koleckai Silvestri
Deathsquirrel 745 Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 I'm running it on a nuc that only exists to run ET. I leave it open pretty much all the time.

With all the rework I've been doing on my hard drives, it would have to recache a bunch every time I start up
realbenny 0 Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 I keep Theatre running too, but I realized that electron.exe sometimes uses an incredible amount of CPU.
Jdiesel 1431 Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 Has anyone noticed that leaving ET open prevents their PC from going to sleep? Just curious if it is an issue with my setup or an ET related on.
Info1 13 Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 I close mine as I have a dedicated media server that this app runs on. The server is on as other family members connect but to get the latest update you need to restart the application. I think this was mentioned above. m

ebr 16177 Posted March 19, 2016 Posted March 19, 2016 I can sleep mine just fine with ET running. I think he was saying his machine didn't automatically sleep as opposed to not being able to manually put it to sleep...
Koleckai Silvestri 1154 Posted March 20, 2016 Posted March 20, 2016 I would suspect that if you leave theater running, the system won't sleep automatically. Theater would be keeping an open network connection for the screensaver and downloading the backdrops used for that. Need to be able to turn off the Screensaver to prevent that.
realbenny 0 Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 Well mine is sleeping itself automatically also with ET running. I dont have ET in the foreground though.
