Fire TV Stick disapearing from active devices list

Hi folks,

 

Within the last couple of days something has changed and I'm experiencing a problem that has made using EMBY on my FireTV Stick all but useless. 

 

First off I'm experiencing the same problem as many other users where when I initially start EMBY it won't automatically connect to my server on my network, but after a long wait brings me to a login type screen where I can select my username and then access everything. Annoying, but livable.

 

The issue I'm having right now is much bigger. Once I get into EMBY, select a show and press play all I get is a gray screen. I remoted into my server (Windows 7 based) and when I try to play any video from the FireTV/EMBY is disappears from the active devices list completely and does not reappear until I force stop the EMBY app on the FireTV and start the app again.

 

Has anyone else experienced this? I can't watch anything on the FireTV stick right now due to this issue. I checked everything I could think of on the server side and I uninstalled and reinstalled the app on the FireTV. Same problem. The FireTV with EMBY is the main media viewing setup in my household. Lets just say my wife and three kids are a bit aggravated...

This sounds like you have the app configured to automatically log in to a particular user and something about that has changed - like the IP address of the server has changed so it is timing out looking for it at the old address.

 

Try going into the settings and setting it to "show login" for start up.  Then exit and come back in and log in normally.  Then, you should be able to set it up to log in automatically again.

This is a crash of some sort on playback.  Hard to know exactly what but are you 100% positive it happens with everything?

 

What is an example of an item on which it does happen?
